چکیده

Light dispersion is an optical phenomenon wherein lights are decomposed into monochromatic components and become colored such as in crystal stones and diamonds. This paper proposes to render light dispersion with a ray tracer based on a composite spectral model. This model decomposes any spectrum into a smooth component and spikes, and offers a convenient vehicle for describing monochromatic lights occurring in light dispersion. Our ray tracer based on the composite model is very easy to implement and the synthesized images for light dispersion match closely their corresponding photographs.

Rendering Diamonds

Fascinating colors of diamonds are generated by a combination of mechanisms including Fresnel reflection, volume absorption and light dispersion. This paper proposes an approach to unify these mechanisms to synthesize realistic computer images of diamonds. Our work is based on a composite spectral model that accounts separately for smooth components and spikes in spectra. While sufficiently han...

Representing Spectral Functions by a Composite Model of Smooth and Spiky Components for Efficient Full-Spectrum Photorealism

We propose a new model called the “composite model” to represent spectral functions. This model is built on the idea of decomposing all spectral functions into smooth and spiky components, each with its own distinct representation. A smooth spectrum can be expressed with coefficients of a set of given basis functions, and the discrete spikes in a spiky spectrum with their locations and heights....

Adaptive Spectral Mapping for Real-Time Dispersive Refraction

Spectral rendering, or image synthesis utilizing the constituent wavelengths of white light, enables the rendering of iridescent colors caused by phenomena such as dispersion, diffraction, interference and scattering. Dispersion creates the rainbow of colors when white light shines through a prism. Caustics, the focusing and de-focusing of light through a refractive medium, can be interpreted a...

ISRVT: An Interactive Spectral Rendering Visualization Tool

Images involving important optical effects, such as light dispersion, interference, diffraction and fluorescence cannot be synthesized without spectral rendering. Spectral surface reflectance curves are the surface reflectance constructed according to specific illumination models for spectral rendering. Nevertheless, it is a tedious and an inefficient job to construct spectral surface reflectan...

Different PVA-Hydroxypropyl Guar Gum Irradiated Nanosilica Composite Membranes for Model Drug Delivery Device

High strength and elastic biodegradable membranes are of great demand in modern technology. Similar membranes have been developed by irradiating different weight poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) – hydroxypropyl guar gum (HPG) blends and followed by combining with ex situ nanosilica. Polarized light microscopic (PLM) study indicates that electron beam irradiation produced crosslinks and develop...
